Wilcox and White Player Organ Restoration: Invitation to Open House
By Jon Hall
Hello,
I have purchased and commissioned for restoration a Wilcox and White Symphony Player Reed Organ, manufactured in Milford, Ct. in 1903 (as far as we can tell). The organ has 24 stops, 455 reeds, and a 58-note tracker bar. It comes with 50 rolls, although some of them are in bad shape.
The organ restoration is now finished, and the people who restored it are having an open house at their showroom in Alfred, Maine. The showroom is in the center of Alfred Village on Routes 202 and 4, across the road from the Alfred Country Store. It is called "The Beehive".
The open house is Saturday, September 30, 1995 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and Sunday, October 1, 1995 from 1:00 P.M. To 5:00 P.M. If you come in the morning, coffee and finger-food will be available, if you come in the afternoon Wine, cheese and crackers will be available.
The restorers are also having a sale of some of their other reed organs, which are quite nice, but alas (probably good for my wallet), none of them are players.
If you would like to come and need further instructions (or get lost), the Beehive's telephone number is: (207) 324-0990.
