Well, here goes: My name is Nada Lingel, which is pronounced Neigh' duh not Naw duh for all you spanish speaking folks. The last name rhymes with jingle. I am a member of MBSI and learned about this group from the MBSI bulletin. Although I am a complete novice at computer stuff (if it isn't Mac I don't understand it) and music boxes, I decided to give it a go. I asked Jody to send me everything that you folks had previously "said", to which I received a reply like "OK -- here goes". After reading it all, I must say that I deserve the nickname of idiot not midiot! Alot of what I read is Greek to me, but I am going to keep reading right along, and hope that some of it sinks in. So here finally is my introduction. I own only one antique music box - a 20.5" disk box. I love ALL of the antique music makers from player pianos to juke boxes, and hope to learn to repair them and to have more of them around someday. I live in Oregon where I teach at a College of Optometry, which takes most of my waking hours. My husband, Dennis also teaches here, and although he doesn't love the same type of musical machines as I do, he puts up with my fascination for them because he is equally fascinated with guitars. I had previously "surfed the internet" looking for a group to talk about antique music makers, so was thrilled to learn that this existed. Thanks to all of you who were instrumental (no pun intended) for making it happen, and thanks for allowing me to join in. Nada Lingel nada_lingel@unixmail.pacificu.edu |
