SALLY LAWRENCE PASSES AWAY
One of AMICA's most devoted and revered members passed away on June 28th. Sally was a member of the the Founding Chapter in San Francisco and was an active participant in the group of 12 individuals who got together in the late 1950's to discuss their mutual interest in reproducing and player pianos and other musical instruments. This group eventually formed the "Reproducing Piano Organization of America". In 1963 this organization became AMICA. Sally had been ill for several years and was on a motor trip with her husband Dale, when she succumbed. Sally's memorial service is scheduled for Saturday July 8th, in San Francisco. A more complete version of this announcement will appear in the July-August issue of the AMICA Bulletin.
I would also like to relay that Carol Dayton of Pedals, Pumpers and Rolls passed away last month. I see that she is listed in the roll persons list as co-owner with her husband Roger Dayton of the business and assume that this is probably not known by some of the Automatic Music readers.
Both of these ladies were very supportive of the field and always went out of their way to make sure that the hobby was enjoyed by all. They will be missed by many many people and friends.
