Piano Rolls
By Larry Fisher, forwarded by Larry Fisher

Frayed edges can be a real challenge on aging paper. If the paper is really brittle, I wouldn't consider it. If the paper is still in pretty good shape, the old school of thought is to use Scotch Magic Tape, "frosty on the roll, invisable on the job", providing all the paper is still there and can be folded, peeled, pressed, pieced back into place. The new school of thought is to use document repair tape. Talk to a library about this tape. It's new to me, I've never used it, have only seen a small sample of it, and don't know how it holds up on a roll.

There is a group call AMICA, Automatic Musical Instrument Collectors of America. Some player piano rebuilders, and some dealers know about them andd how to reach them. You might even try asking pianobook@aol.com (I think) Larry Fine and see if he has a source for this information.
