Art Cases; also Upcoming AMICA Article
By Robin Pratt
Terry Smythe, Yes most definitely!!!. I'm interested in art case info for the AMICA Bulletin. It may be possible to trace down the very magazine of which you speak. By the by, I was the lucky purchaser of an AEOLIAN Booklet from the late '20's ('28) that not only describes their less pricey models and the concern for quality, etc. BUT also in the back of the booklet was an envelope that contain all of the art cases in photo form for the STROUD, AND WHEELOCK pianos!!! My God, no one has ever seen that before. It also came with a "5 Great Artists" select the Duo-Art booklet in the roll collection. From Lyon and Healy , Chicago. Good roll selection of late things. all perfect. Where's the piano??? No one knows. Also there was a great rendering of the Aeolian Garwood, NJ factory among other Aeolian properties. Speaking of Wayne Stanke, he called the other night and I faxed him a copy of the article that I have written which will appear in the AMICA Bulletin for July-August 1995. It is an informative and amusing overview of my experiences operating the AMPICO with a 60+- person orchestra at the the 1983 Chicago Convention. We did several Concerto movements and it met with positive reviews. What a night!!! Beautiful music, pianos and people. Who could ask for more. Jim Weisenborne was there...I'm sure you remember that night, don't you Jim? I sure do. All for now. Robin (PIANOLA)
