Bosendorfer Playback System

The Bosendorfer system was very expensive. I believe it added over $25,000 to the overall cost of the piano. The claim was that it could perfectly reproduce any recorded nuance of the performer. A promotional video I have seen shows a key being pushed only half way down and the playback doing the same!
My best "guess" is that he was using one of two methods:
Voice coil solenoids: These are the same that is used in many hard disk head positioning systems. With this kind of solenoid, the playback velocity and position can be precisely controlled.
Regular solenoid with velocity feedback. This uses a separate coil that feeds back velocity info to the driving electronics. I have seen this concept used for the sustain pedal solenoid on one of his systems.
Any other ideas or info out there?
