I have made a minor change in the way the digest software works on foxtail. Most of you will not notice or care about this change but the change deserves explanation for those who are interested. Inspection of the e-mail header of prior digests would show that I actually mail the digests to a fictitous account on foxtail called "roll-forward". This distinction allowed me to edit the incoming mailbox for "automatic-music" into an indexed digest and remail it. One of you actually noticed this anomoly and asked about it because it was confusing. More recently Philip Jamison stumbled upon an unintended feature -- if any of you sent mail to "roll-forward" the mail was sent to everyone without my getting to edit it into the digest. That is why everyone received a "non-digest" copy of his message asking about my program that converts a MIDI file to a printed perforation template.
It turns out that many of your mailers would have generated mail to "roll-forward" if you entered the 'reply' command to your mailer while reading this digest. In order to correct this bug, I've fixed it so that all future digests will appear to have been mailed to "automatic-music". To avoid bouncing mail sent in reply to older digest messages, mail sent to the fictitous account "roll-forward" will be handled as digest input, although I'd like to discourage its intentional use in new mail. Continue to send messages to:
automatic-music@foxtail.com
Thanks
