WTB: AMPICO Grand Stack
By John Grant
I am trying to locate a late Ampco "A" (flange finger) grand stack for a 6'2" Knabe. Configuration as follows:
B <-22 strikers-> G G# <-22 strikers-> E F <-20 strikers-> C# D <-19 strikers-> A | | | | | | | | | <---11 3/4"---> | | <---11 1/2"---> | | <---9 3/4"----> | | <---9 1/4"----> | | |<->| |<->| |<->| | | 1 3/4" 1 1/2" 1 1/2" | | | |<-----------------------47" overall length, B to A strike points------------------->|
In case this attempt at "drawing" gets screwed up by proportional font spacing, the finger counts are 22-22-20-29 with overall length between first and last of 47". Anything reasonably close to this can probably be "rescaled". Cash or trade. Thank you. -John Grant
{ Editor's note: [ [ An aquantance of mine was recently hired to work part time [ for a piano technician who has a QRS Pianomation dealership. [ They recently removed an AMPICO A drawer and stack from from [ a smallish grand ( 5'2" ?) to install a Pianomation system [ at the piano owner's request. This seemed like blasphemy [ to me, but the good news is they saved all the parts they [ took out. I have no idea if the parts will fit or if the [ piano technician will part with them for a reasonable price. [ If you are interested, I'd suggest you research the "fit" and [ negotiate price through my buddy. His name is Woody Kirkman [ and he can be reached at home at 619-789-2156 in the evenings [ between 9 and 11 PDT, or you can leave a message any time during [ the day and he'll call you back.
