I have recently acquired a Lauter-Humana piano and, the more research
I do to try and determine the date of manufacture, the more confused
I get. Serial # 35149, the Pierce Piano Atlas says 1908.
From the Archives I understand that the Pierce Atlas is off by ten+
years on these, but I'm not sure if that is for all years or just some.
One article I read says that the earlier models were three-tiered and
another says the earlier models were four-tiered. There is no date or
date code on the plate.
Mine has a four-tiered stack, with one set of tracking pneumatics
and their standard pouch-style air motor. The piano action is the
self-destructing "Non-blocking action."
Thanks for your help
